About My Practice

About My Practice

My goal is simple: to help you move easier, sleep better, hurt less, and improve your overall quality of life. As a Registered Practical Nurse with specialized training in acupuncture and other supportive therapeutic modalities, I believe great care starts with listening. Every person is different, which is why I take the time to understand your health concerns, lifestyle, and goals before creating a treatment plan that's right for you. Whether you're living with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, managing stress, dealing with muscle tension, or simply looking to improve your overall well-being, my focus is on treating the whole person—not just the symptoms. Using a combination of acupuncture, dry needling, hands-on techniques, and other complementary therapeutic modalities, I provide personalized care in a calm, welcoming space in Cobourg. My goal is to support your body's natural healing process so you can move with greater ease, feel stronger, sleep better, and enjoy a better quality of life.

Services

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice where thin, solid needles are inserted into specific strategic points in the skin. It aims to correct imbalances in the body's flow of vital energy (Qi) and stimulate the central nervous system to promote natural healing and pain relief.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a modified form of traditional acupuncture where a mild electrical current passes between pairs of acupuncture needles. This technique combines ancient holistic practices with modern technology to deliver continuous, controlled stimulation to targeted body tissues. It is widely used by clinical practitioners to manage acute or chronic pain, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall healing.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a modern, evidence-based medical treatment where a clinician inserts thin, solid filiform needles directly into myofascial trigger points (painful muscle knots). The term "dry" means the procedure does not inject any medication or fluid into the body. Instead, it relies entirely on the physical interaction between the needle and the muscle tissue to deactivate pain triggers and restore normal movement.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient alternative medicine practice where a clinician places specialized cups on the skin for a few minutes to create suction. This negative pressure pulls the skin, superficial muscle layer, and fascial tissue upward into the cup. The primary goal of the treatment is to increase blood flow, encourage cell repair, relieve muscle tension, and accelerate overall tissue healing.

Coming soon-Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is a traditional therapy where a practitioner briefly places a lit, alcohol-soaked cotton swab inside a glass cup to remove the oxygen. As the trapped air cools, it creates a vacuum that suctions the skin. This process pulls blood to the area to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote healing.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft tissue therapy involves manipulating muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia to alleviate tension, break down scar tissue, and improve blood flow. It aids recovery, increases flexibility, and relieves chronic pain through techniques like deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and foam rolling

Lower Body Tissue Work

Foot and leg tissue work involves therapeutic techniques—such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy—that target the muscles, tendons, and fascia of the lower limbs. It aims to relieve tension, improve circulation, enhance joint mobility, and accelerate recovery from injuries or overuse.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique where a practitioner uses a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin with light-to-medium pressure. The term translates directly from Chinese: "Gua" means to scrape or rub, and "Sha" refers to the reddish, sand-like petechiae (tiny red spots) that surface on the skin during treatment. The technique breaks up tissue stagnation, releases tight fascia, and rapidly increases localized blood flow to promote healing.

Ear Irrigation

Ear Irrigation, is a routine medical procedure used to remove a buildup of impacted cerumen (ear wax) from the ear canal. The process uses a controlled stream of warm water or saline to gently flush the wax out. It is commonly performed by healthcare professionals when excess ear wax causes symptoms like muffled hearing, earaches, or a feeling of fullness.

Dizziness and Balance Support Care

Dizziness and Balance Support Care - often clinically referred to as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT)—is a specialized, exercise-based medical program designed to treat balance disorders, chronic dizziness, and spatial disorientation. The care is primary coordinated by specialized physical therapists or audiologists. The central goal is to retrain the brain to process signals from the balance systems correctly, reduce fall risks, and restore daily confidence

Medication Education

Medication Education is a personalized clinical service provided by pharmacists, nurses, or physicians to teach patients how to safely, accurately, and effectively take their prescribed medications. This educational process ensures you understand exactly why you are taking a drug, how to take it correctly, and what to expect regarding side effects. The ultimate goal is to prevent dangerous medical errors, avoid adverse drug interactions, and improve health outcomes.

Blood Pressure & Heart Rate Monitoring

A blood pressure and heart rate monitoring service continuously or intermittently tracks cardiovascular vitals. Patients use wearable or portable devices to record systolic and diastolic pressures and pulse rate, with data automatically transmitted to a secure clinical platform for physician review and chronic disease management.
